First ever post for this blog! Hi my name is Mea and I live in Bacolod City. I like writing and I manage a couple of different other blogs. I also love all things that have something to do with beauty so creating this blog was inevitable.
So let's kick things off with a little review of a salon that we went to last Sunday: Virtu Salon & Spa (La Salle). My sister and I were in dire need of updating in terms of our hair so we decided to pay Rita a visit. She's my sister's hair stylist.
The Place
As expected of a Virtu Salon & Spa Branch, it was well lit, cool and clean. The salon has its own reception and waiting area where you can wait if you're stylist or nail lady isn't available yet. When we went in, Rita was still doing someone else's hair so we had to wait for a bit. The receptionist politely offered us a seat. About 10 minutes after, Rita became available.
The Before
My sister's hair was not that bad. She just needed for it to be cut short (she likes pixie cuts like my mom). I, on the other hand, well you be the judge. My hair was like back's length and I have never gotten it this long before.
For my sister: Cut & Color
Mine: Cut
Meet Rita
My sister used to have long hair but she decided to cut it short around the same time the pixie cut became a trend. She kept it short ever since. She bounced from one popular salon to the other but, for some reason, she ended up sticking to Virtu La Salle because of Rita.
She's almost done. |
While my sister's hair color was "cooking", Rita gave me a quick snip. I don't usually trust other hair stylists (I usually go to David's Salon) with cutting my hair because it's wavy so I never really know how it's going to turn out; but with my sister's recommendation, I made an exception.
I asked Rita was was good for my face shape. I also explained that I didn't want it to be too short - just updated, maybe thinned a little, and with lots of layers. It didn't really take her long to do the cutting and blow drying but the result was (continue reading)...
While I was admiring my new do, they finished off my sister's hair. I couldn't wait to see what hers looked like because (let's face it) there are only a few hair stylists that can truly do a banging pixie cut.
The After (Verdict)
Sister's hair and color - Rita did a great job. The color was subtle and the pixie cut that my sister wanted was on point. I guess it's the usual cut she gets from Rita.
As for mine, well, I was pretty happy with how it turned out. Pretty happy. I liked that I didn't have to explain what I wanted to Rita - she just knew. I wasn't envisioning my hair to be this short (yes, it feels really short) but it looks really fabulous.
Rita did a pretty good job and we walked out of Virtu Salon & Spa with smiles on our faces. My head felt a whole lot lighter, that's for sure.
The Morning After
For me, the true test of a hair stylists' cut would depend on the "morning after". This means that when you go out of the salon, you bring the new confidence that comes with beautiful, shiny and bouncy locks- all thanks to the flat iron or the hair blower. The "morning after" is when you wake to the next day and you have to bathe the ironed/blow dried hair right off.So how was my "morning after"?
Pretty damn fantastic if I do say so myself.

Will I be going back?
That's a big YES. I think I'll stick to getting my hair done at the Virtu Salong & Spa for a little while.
